So, the United States Senate has voted unanimously to extend daylight savings time to year round. If it takes something like this to get bi-partisanship, I guess I should graciously accept it but it does make me wonder why this issue is even on the agenda when historically, states have decided what time they want it to be. According to this article in the Washington Post, https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/03/17/senate-time/, many of those voting didn’t even know what they were voting for. My guess is, that’s not uncommon, just based on some of the questionable things the Senate has passed in the past.

Like usual, much ado about nothing. I’d like to know why we’re staying on daylight savings time rather than returning to “real” time in the fall and then not doing DST anymore. Won’t doing it this way make us out of sync with places that don’t do DST? The one thing Congress agrees on, and I disagree.

I guess this is one of those Be Careful What You Wish For things, eh?

Gah! Indiana is so messed up that this could cause a rip in the fabric of society that cannot be mended! I really want to “fall back” since as summer progresses it won’t get dark until nearly 10 PM!! This makes parents of younger children go nuts since it is really hard to get those little ones to sleep when there’s still daylight (which means there’s time to play)!!!

Yup, I really feel for you folks at the western edge of your time zone. Here, in CA, we often wish for a bit longer daylight.

“…many of those voting didn’t even know what they were voting for.” The same may be said of the electorate at large. They vote for whoever holds a good pep rally or talks their kind of smack. Crazy.

I know, right?! It’s downright scary to live among them. Sometimes I wish I could see the world in black and white and vote for a candidate on a single issue, never mind the fact that the candidate didn’t know which side of the issue he was on until his campaign manager told him.
